BBC Education The BBC Education site is a major gateway into all things educational at all levels. Simply not to be missed! Channel 4 Schools (4 Learning) Channel Four Learning Online supports Channel 4's schools programmes and provides multimedia solutions for teachers, pupils, and home learners. Lots of useful stuff. Discovery Channel School Online Eduweb This is RM's content-rich educational website. Only parts of it can be accessed without subscription (ie you have to pay!). The links section (called Pathways) is categorised by subject and then by topic. There are over 3000 links. Very useful. Espresso An educational multimedia service that schools will be able to subscribe to from January 2000 which is received by satellite. The site holds some lesson plans connected to the modules but the selection on show at the moment is very limited. A user-friendly interface. IFL - Internet for Learning Research machines under another name! Living Library Part of RM's access-by-subscription Eduweb. Questions Publishing This well known educational publisher has a useful site. It contains both catalogues of their products and services and a very well organised free area that contains information about policies and management, professional library articles, links to school and LEA websites and a useful subject links section. The site also has a jop finder and a training exchange. Scholastic Scholastic, the publishers. Their site is a cracker - tons of stuff across the curriculum: lesson plans and downloadables, authors and books, online activities, news, research tools and their well known book clubs. Recommended. WH Smith (Education section) This is the web presence of the great high street retailer. They have a hot line to lots of interesting resources and information. The Education portal gives access to the Hutchinson Online Encyclopaedia, the Guardian Education archives and the BBC Learning Zone. You can also order books, etc., on line.
